A Scorpion Strikes...

Okay, so I've been warned about the scorpions living out in the country in Texas. I've seen and killed numerous in the house, but I've never come close to getting nailed by one...that is until 1:45am this morning. I'm just minding my own business, out cold asleep, and awake to this horrible sharp stinging pain in my foot. I jumped (and I mean jumped) out of bed and turned on the light. Not only was my entire foot red & rashy & it was killing me, but I saw that stinkin' scorpion just sitting on my sheets where my foot was...I mean the nerve, coming into my bed! And it wasn't one of those tiny baby ones, it was a good size one & he packed a punch. After beating it w/ a shoe & throwing out the remains, I had no idea how to get rid of the pain. So I went for Wes' little soccerball icepack (thanks Wes) & it did the trick after about 1 hour. And I have to mention my protector, Dexter, who then slept under the covers by my feet for the rest of the night. What a guy!
